KIRK WIPPER PORTAGE: FROM U OF T TO CANADIAN CANOE MUSEUM
The event began Thursday April 28/11 at Hart House and finished at the Museum on Sunday May 1/11 at 2p.m. With a memorial already planned at the Museum. The many friends, colleagues and former students of Kirk, as well as people who care for our planet like Kirk did, showed their love and respect for a “true Canadian”. The friends of Kirk Wipper portaged approximately 40 Km/day on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and the final leg of 10 Km on Sunday. The canoe was provided by Swift Canoe and special thanks to Bill Swift Jr.

Professor Emeritus Kirk A.W. Wipper (4T8) was an outstanding leader in the field of outdoor education who developed and led outdoor projects portion of curriculum for many years. The award is given to a third or fourth-year student who demonstrates, leadership, willingness to help others, a concern for the natural environment and enthusiastic involvement in the outdoor projects. The recipient is entitled to attend an additional outdoor project at no expense.
